Submotion Orchestra- Fragments

Submotion Orchestra‘s debut album ‘Finest Hour’ was last year. It made my top 10 albums of that year but unfortunately for most people slipped under the radar. It’s a wonderfully ambient dupstep record, the chilled, summery sound is fronted by the velvet voice of Ruby Wood with the beats, brass and orchestration created by the rest of the 7 piece band from Leeds.

The band released their second record ‘Fragments’ earlier this week and it is yet again another gorgeous album. There is development in the sound, particularly in the addition of strings and woodwind to some of the tracks. The sound is more lush and expansive which works incredibly well on album stand out tracks such as ‘Blind Spot’ and the dancey ‘It’s Not Me It’s You’. The band play Koko on October 12th and they really are quite incredible live too.
