EP Review: Old Pine- Ben Howard

Ben Howards unique voice and guitar playing create beautifully atmospheric music which translates exceptionally well to record. ‘Old Pine’ is the first EP from Ben, who hails from the West Country and is being released on Communion/Island on May 23rd.

The title track of the EP ‘Old Pine’ is a gentle guitar plucked song, at times his guitar playing reminds you of John Butler Trio but his voice and melody of the song fits him nicely in the folk box. Second track ‘Further Away’ shines with some female harmonies. ‘Follation Wood’ is another catchy number with a lovely summery feel. ‘Three Tree Down’ is another highlight of the EP, the delicate vocals and sparse guitar part end the EP beautifully, leaving us wondering what this young chap will produce next. You can grab a free download of ‘Three Tree Down’ below and check out the gorgeous video for ‘Old Pine’.
