Big Deal have gathered a bit of hype around them recently. They were featured in NME’s Bands of 2011 issue and have been playing numerous gigs around London, most of which have been selling out. And it really doesn’t surprise me. The are a boy-girl duo and make gorgeous harmonies, but are of a different kind to Slow Club, this is not happy chappy pop music, this is dark yet summery indie music about teenage angst and heartbreak. Yeah, so maybe that doesn’t sound overly appealing but give it a listen and I guarantee you will be hearing something pretty special. Their first single ‘Homework’ has already been released and having now signed to Moshi Moshi (label which is king of the boy-girl duos, e.g. Summer Camp and Slow Club) I expect an album is due this year. Below are some of their upcoming tour dates, catch them before they really do become a big deal.
3rd- London Heaven, supporting Duke Spirit for the NME Awards Shows
11th- Upstairs at the Garage for HMV’s Next Big Thing
17th- The Old Queens Head, Islington with GroupLove
18th- Verve, Leeds
You can buy the single ‘Homework’ and b-side ’13’ on iTunes now.
