Gig Review: Ingrid Olava @ The Slaughtered Lamb

When I went to see Frazey Ford last week, the support was a girl called Ingrid Olava. I unfortunately missed her set but was lucky enough to go and see her play a headline show at The Slaughtered Lamb on Friday. She has a stunning voice and some wonderful songs and the show was very lovely. The Slaughtered Lamb is a wonderful venue and perfect for a performance like Ingrid’s. Ingrid is farily well known in Norway but is only just starting to get her voice heard in the UK. Everyone in the audience seemed to really enjoy her performance so I think it might be working. Highlights of the set were a cover of Gillian Welch’s ‘Everything is Free’ now and ‘Warrior Song’. Ingrid is playing two more London shows, dates are below.

October 25th- Source Below, Soho

October 26th- Royal Festival Hall, Southbank (supporting the wonderful Swell Season)

This is a really lovely video of Ingrid performing with Damien Rice…

I am one of Ingrid´s biggest fans in Norway and it´s lovely to see her make impression on listeners abroad as well.. In a few years I´m sure she´s well known in both UK and US. Hopefully everyone will get to hear her fantastic voice and well written lyrics. Did u guys in UK have the show called Les Mondes Engloutis or Shagma (as it also was called)? It was part of the children´s television back in the 80´s.. Anyhow, Ingrid has made a remarkable cover of the theme song, a song which originally was great, Ingrid made fantastic !! Check it out.. 🙂
